duPont REGISTRY February 2015
$ 6.95

Dear Reader,

            At press time, there is still time to plan your activities during the January Scottsdale Auction Week.  By the time you read this, time will have almost run out.  But, this month’s Publisher’s Choice needs consideration along with the lengthy list of acquisitions that you have (or are) making in Arizona.

The Corvette SR-2 Racer evokes an emotional response from everyone who sees it.  At the time of its introduction, it represented the highest level of automotive racing design and performance from a US Manufacturer. This was the first General Motors “Purpose-Built” American Sports Racing Car from the Golden Era of Racing.  The SR-2 was the combined spirit of two great men in Corvette History:  Harley Earl, GM VP Design and Styling and Zora Arkus-Duntov, Director of Performance Engineering.  Earl was the Father of the Corvette and Duntov the Father of Corvette Performance.   The SR-2 was the culmination of many great things that were happening at GM in the early to mid-1950’s.

There is no doubt that specialty cars do well at auctions, but sometimes they come along when an active auction is not possible.  Then, the best way to market your car is through the pages of the duPont REGISTRYTM, or on our website,   You can also pause to read the latest information on classic, luxury and exotic automobiles on our blog, Our team of writers will be reporting on the activities in Arizona as soon as the gavel falls on the last car and you can read about the Publisher’s Choice on page ___.

2015 looks like a huge, huge year for the marketplace that is influenced by the duPont REGISTRYTM.  We all have some work to do to catch up to the booming art market that broke all kinds of records this past fall.  In early November, more than $2 billion of art was auctioned off with 23 individual works selling for more than $20 million each!  The Wall Street Journal reported that the auctions were “The Hottest Two Weeks Ever in Art History.”  This year in Arizona will most likely become the hottest two weeks in the buying and selling of classic, luxury and exotic automobiles.  I hope to see you there.

Happy, Happy Motoring in 2015!

Thomas L. duPont
